Simple Self-Care Strategies for the Busy Entrepreneur

Running a business can be thoroughly rewarding, but boy is it tough. Chances are you have a neverending to-do list that seems to grow by the minute. And when you think about doing activities unrelated to work that could foster your health and well-being, you can’t imagine how you could ever fit them into your schedule.

Here’s the thing: Everyone can practice self-care, no matter how busy they are. You just have to find activities that work for you. And as an entrepreneur, it’s critical that you do!

Just think about it. Sleep is crucial for reaching and maintaining peak productivity. Exercise busts stress better than anything, and taking a moment to relax can reset your mind and help you recharge. And these are just a few examples. Check out these practical self-care tips for entrepreneurs from Fixated Insurance:

Assess your financial health.

Let’s start with your business: If you are worried about finances, it’s important to get them under control so that you can position your company for long-term success. Go over your budget, and assess where you can make changes to spur growth.

Another thing you can do if you don’t have the funds you need at this stage in your business is to look for grants. Unlike loans, you don’t have to pay grants back. But it can be hard to find good grants, which means that you need to be mindful of the process. Know what types of grants to look for, narrow your search to your industry, and learn how to write great applications.

Embrace outsourcing.

While you’re at it, think of any tasks or projects that are weighing you down. A lot of entrepreneurs make the mistake of trying to do too much themselves. This not only hinders your ability to practice self-care but also makes it difficult for you to grow your company as you wish. Make a list of all the jobs that are consuming your time, and consider hiring freelancers to take care of them.

You can also extend this mentality toward your home life. Being overwhelmed with time-consuming chores is tough, so consider hiring a cleaning service to manage your home’s  interior and a lawn service to take off the exterior. Mindfully choose your contractors to make sure you find a reliable and worthy cleaning or lawn service provider using search terms like “lawn care near me” or “cleaning service in my area.”

Hit the gym (or make the gym).

Exercise is one of the fundamental building blocks of a healthy self-care routine. And even if you are uber-busy, you can fit physical activity into your daily life. go running through the neighborhood each morning, or look online for a wide range of quick HIIT workouts. If you want the added benefit of socializing, consider joining the local gym. Or, you can do a variety of movements with minimal equipment right from your home.

Be mindful of your diet.

If you want quick results for how you look and feel, start eating clean foods. Base your diet around lean meats, fruits, and vegetables, and you’ll notice a big difference within days, not to mention benefit your long-term health and well-being.

Keep your home a peaceful haven.

Long days can feel even longer when you come home to a disorganized and messy home. And if your whole family is feeling the weight of the disarray and mess, it’s easy for tensions to flare for everyone. With this in mind, enlist your partner and children to clean up, declutter and organize the entire house top to bottom. Not only can this promote more positivity at home, but everyone will be more inclined to keep it tidy after all their hard work.

Break the norm.

Your mind and body need breaks, which may not come very often when you are an entrepreneur. Nonetheless, you need to make it happen. At least every two hours throughout your workday, try to take a few minutes to take your mind off of work and recharge. And plan a weekend getaway here and there to rejuvenate yourself and spend time with loved ones.

Get sleepy.

Finally, you need sleep. The problem that many entrepreneurs run into is that they struggle to fall asleep either because of work-related stress or because their mind is simply racing with all the tasks they must complete the next day.

Find an activity that relaxes your mind and body and prepares you for sleep each night. Learn how to disconnect your thoughts from your to-do list and be present in the moment. Once you form a steady sleep routine, you will notice big changes in your productivity and well-being.

Following the tips above will quickly make you more productive, healthier, and happier overall. But of course, this is just a start. If these ideas don’t work for you, or if you want to take it to the next level, keep researching other strategies that can keep you healthy and ready to accomplish more than you ever dreamed!

Don’t let a lack of or minimal business insurance keep you up at night. Connect with Fixated Insurance today to add or increase coverage so you have peace of mind and so that your business stays protected.
